We all get spam calls phishing for information. At the business centre sites, we are under contract with SSE for our gas and electricity supply. But we are seeing a weekly call from scammers pretending to be SSE, looking for us to settle an overdue balance on one of our accounts.  

Firstly, we always pay on time. But the admin services at SSE are so dire that when chased for a query on an invoice, they take weeks, if not months to resolve anything.  This makes the calls seem legitimate in some cases.

Questions around how they get our data from SSE in the first place begs a question. But they do not have the metre information, so they ask for the metre numbers as a way to validate the account details. Do not fall for this. 

SSE will never ask for these specifics.
